Carolyn Sue Ferguson

Carolyn Sue Ferguson, 66, of Belleville, Ill. passed away at her home on Wednesday, June 14, at 11 a.m.
She was born in Du Quoin on September 17, 1933 to Ernie Coates and Rada Baldridge Coates. She has lived in Belleville for the past 13 years.
She married Bob D. Ferguson on July 30, 1952 in Centralia and he preceded her in death on June 25, 1988. She was a retired teaching assistant at the Central Junior High School in Belleville, Ill. for 10 years.
She was a member of the First Chirstian Church of Centralia and a past member of the young adult Sunday School Class.
Prior to that she was a teaching aide with Centralia city schools for 20 years and traught private baton lessons for 20 years and was director of Sues Steppers Drill Team. She was past president of Central School TA and Centralia Grade School band parents. She was class sponsor in 1975 and 1980.
Survivors include one son Rick Ferguson and wife Staci of Oak Ridge, Tenn.; one daughter Dandy Fowler and husband Greg of Glen Carbon, Ill.; one brother Bill Coates of Belleville, Ill. ; one sister Edith Mae Clark of Champaign; grandchildren Jonathan Fowler, Mandy Fowler, James Fowler, Fahran Ferguson, Christian Ferguson and Eric Ferguson.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Bob, two brothers Bobby Gene Coates and Jack Coates and one sister Juanita Erwin.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 17, 2000 at the Irvin Funeral Home at 234 South Elm Street in Centralia, Ill.  with Rev. Michael Karunas officiating. Friends were able to call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial was in the Mt. Catherine Cemetery.
